Top things to do in Benidorm
The eight things below cover the town's best sights, days out and evenings, with what each costs, when it opens and how to get there. Free options come first; for a full list see free things to do in Benidorm.
1. Balcón del Mediterráneo and the Old Town
The castle viewpoint on the Canfali headland splits Levante and Poniente beaches and is the classic Benidorm photo. Benidorm's founding fortress stood here after the town charter of 8 May 1325; the white balustrade dates from 1928 and four cannons still point out to sea.
Price: free. Hours: it is an open public square with no listed closing time. Best time: sunset. Getting there: walk up through the lanes of the Old Town, which is also where you will find Tapas Alley for an evening drink afterwards.
2. Walk to La Cruz in Serra Gelada
The cross above the Rincón de Loix was first raised by friars in December 1961, destroyed by a storm in 1975 and rebuilt from railway sleepers. On clear days you can see Puig Campana.
Price: free. Route: 5 km return, about 3 hours, 237 m of climbing, rated moderate and waymarked white and yellow. Start: the Rincón de Loix tourist point on Calle Gerona at Avenida Derramador. In July and August, when average highs reach 30–31°C, go early in the morning.
3. Boat to Benidorm Island
The island sits just over 3 km offshore and belongs to the Serra Gelada natural park. Boats leave from the port on Paseo de Colón, the crossing takes about 20 minutes and you can return on any later boat. The Acuario II catamaran has underwater viewing windows, which children enjoy.
Price: about €15–22 per person, according to the Visit Benidorm tourist board. Season: all year, weather permitting, with departures every 30–60 minutes between roughly 10:00 and 18:00 in high season. Take snorkelling gear if you have it.
4. Terra Mítica
Benidorm's ride park is themed on Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands, with big coasters such as Titánide and Inferno. Price: adults €41 at the gate or €35 online in low season, €49 or €43 in high season. Season: mid-May to early November, daily in summer then weekends. Getting there: bus 042 from Avenida Beniardá. Full details in our Terra Mítica guide.
5. Aqualandia and Mundomar
The water park and the marine park sit side by side at the foot of Serra Gelada, share a free car park and are on bus lines 001 and 011. Aqualandia costs €41 at the gate or €35 online for adults and ran from 23 May to 27 September in 2026. Mundomar has dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows from about €32. A one-day combo for both is €41 at the gate. Compare all five parks in our Benidorm theme parks guide.
6. Museu Boca del Calvari
This free museum on Calle Tomás Ortuño in the Old Town has three floors of temporary exhibitions, including the history of the Benidorm Song Festival (1959–2006). The Lluís Duart archaeological room, opened in July 2024, holds more than 500 pieces, among them a Roman lead anchor stock about 2.2 m long. Hours: daily 12:00–20:00, until 22:00 in summer.
7. A night at the shows
Evenings are what Benidorm does best. Benidorm Palace runs its big variety show on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 22:00, with show-only tickets listed by sellers at about €34–40. For no ticket at all, the cabaret bars around Calle Gerona put on tribute acts, drag and comedy most nights with free entry.
8. Cable Ski Benidorm
The cable wakeboard lake on Avenida de Madrid in the Rincón de Loix is billed by Visit Benidorm as the world's first cable ski. Beginner sessions are listed from €33 for two hours, and the season runs from Easter to October.
Things to do by who you're with
The best days look very different for a family, a couple or a stag party.
Families with kids
Levante and Poniente have lifeguards, children's play areas and pushchair access, and there are around 20 municipal playgrounds. Add a water park, the island boat and the Torre de les Caletes walk. Our Benidorm with kids guide has prices, child ages and family walks.
Couples
Watch the sunset from the Balcón del Mediterráneo, eat tapas in the Old Town, then take in a show. See what's on tonight for couples, or take the TRAM up the coast for a day in Altea's old town.
Groups, stags and hens
Groups tend to split days between the beach, Cable Ski or karting and long nights on the Strip. Our stag do guide, hen do guide and 18–30s guide cover bars, clubs and the local rules.
Over-60s
Flat promenades, three assisted-bathing points on the beaches, mobility scooter hire and plenty of afternoon entertainment make Benidorm easy going. Read our Benidorm for over-60s guide for the practical details.
Free things to do
Many of Benidorm's best experiences cost nothing: the viewpoints, the Serra Gelada trails, the beaches, the Boca del Calvari museum and the evening shows in free-entry bars.
The street markets are free to browse too, though the sources disagree on days and hours, so check our outdoor markets guide before you go. For tonight's no-ticket entertainment, see free entertainment in Benidorm tonight, and for the full list read free things to do in Benidorm.
Rainy day ideas
Benidorm gets few wet days (about 37 a year with 1 mm or more of rain), but indoor options are limited, so it helps to have a plan.
The best bets are the free Boca del Calvari museum, the indoor market, afternoon shows in the cabaret bars (see what's on this afternoon) and a TRAM ride to Alicante. Our Benidorm rainy day guide is honest about what is and isn't in town.

Beaches
Benidorm has two long town beaches plus a small central one and two coves, and Levante and Poniente both hold Blue Flags for 2026.
Levante beach has more than 2 km of sand and the busiest promenade. Poniente is longer, at about 3.2 km, and gets the sun until it sets. Mal Pas sits below the Old Town facing the island, while the Tío Ximo and Almadrava coves at the northern end are quieter and good for snorkelling. A sunbed costs about €6 a day on the official concession price list. Compare them in our Benidorm beaches guide.
On the water, outdoors and active
Benidorm's coastline and the Serra Gelada cliffs give you plenty to do beyond the beach, from a 20-minute boat ride to Benidorm Island to a morning on the golf course.
- Benidorm boat trips: the island ferry, coastal routes to Altea and Calpe, and glass-bottom catamarans from the port.
- Benidorm Island boat trip: crossing times, fares and what there is to do on the island.
