Where to stay in Benidorm
Updated 12/10/2026 by the onbenidorm team · Areas checked October 2026
Most visitors stay on or near Levante beach, Benidorm's liveliest area. Pick the Rincón de Loix or the Calle Gerona Strip for British bars and nightly shows, the Old Town for character, tapas and a slightly older crowd, Poniente for a longer, quieter and more Spanish beach, and La Cala at the far western end for peace away from late nights.

Benidorm's areas at a glance
Choose by what you want on your doorstep: the beach, the bars or a quiet night's sleep. Benidorm is long and thin, with Levante beach to the east, Poniente to the west and the Old Town on the headland between them; Wikivoyage notes that walking from one end of the resort to the other takes over an hour.
The table compares the main areas. For individual hotels, see our hotels in Benidorm page.
| Area | Vibe | Best for | Noise | Beach |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Levante | Busy, international, the liveliest area | Families, groups, first-timers | Busy day and night | On Levante (2.1 km, Blue Flag) |
| Rincón de Loix | Heavily British, bars and Indian restaurants | British comforts, nightly entertainment | Lively around the bar streets | East end of Levante |
| The Strip | Show bars and cabaret on Calle Gerona | Stag and hen groups, show fans | Loudest at night | Just inland of Levante |
| Old Town | Whitewashed streets, church, tapas | Couples, older visitors, food | Bar lanes busy at night | Mal Pas cove, between both beaches |
| Poniente | Calmer, more Spanish | Families, locals, longer beach walks | Quieter | On Poniente (about 3.1 km, Blue Flag) |
| La Cala | Relaxed, away from late nights | Peace and quiet | Quiet | West end of Poniente |
Levante: the all-rounder
Levante is where most visitors stay, and Wikivoyage calls it ideal for families and groups. The beach runs 2,084 metres from Punta Pinet to Punta Canfali, averages 55 metres wide and has held a Blue Flag since 1987.
Visit Benidorm describes it as a busy, social hub with visitors of many nationalities, and Guía Repsol calls it the liveliest beach in town, known across Europe for nightlife popular with young people. Sunbeds cost about €6 a day on the official concession price list. See our Levante beach guide.
Rincón de Loix and the Strip: for nightlife
Stay here if the show bars are the point of the holiday. The two areas run into each other at the eastern end of Levante, and they are where most of Benidorm's British bars and shows are.
Rincón de Loix
The Rincón de Loix sits on the east side of Levante. Tripadvisor's restaurant listings for the area are dominated by Indian restaurants and British bars, and Aqualandia is on Carrer Serra Gelada at this end of town. Hotel Don Pancho is here, on Calle Almería opposite the Ducado seafood restaurant.
The Strip (Calle Gerona)
Calle Gerona is the main bar and cabaret strip. The Sol Pelícanos Ocas on Calle Gerona was the filming location for the sitcom Benidorm; see our Benidorm filming locations guide.
Expect noise late into the night if your room faces the street. The SATE tourist police office is also on Calle Gerona, at Avenida del Derramador.
Old Town: for couples and food
The Old Town, or El Castell, occupies the headland between the two beaches and the streets just inland. Guía Repsol highlights its whitewashed houses, the blue-domed church of Sant Jaume and the Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint, and Wikivoyage says it is preferred by couples and more mature visitors.
It is the place for food: Tapas Alley holds La Cava Aragonesa, one of six Benidorm restaurants with a Repsol Solete, and D-Vora, another, is on Plaça de Sant Jaume in the RH Canfali hotel. The small, sheltered Mal Pas cove sits below Cerro Canfali.
Hotels here are smaller and more boutique, such as the Villa Venecia, whose top floor holds the Llum de Mar restaurant. See our Old Town nightlife guide for the evening scene.
Poniente: quieter and more Spanish
Poniente is the largest beach in Benidorm at about 3,100 metres, and Visit Benidorm describes it as quieter than Levante and especially popular with Spanish visitors. Guía Repsol says it suits families with children, and the beach has six children's play areas.
It also has two of the three accessible bathing points, at Parque de Elche and towards the La Cala end, with amphibious chairs and staff to help in the water in summer. The trade-off is distance from the British bars around Levante. See our Poniente beach guide.
La Cala and out-of-town resorts: for peace
La Cala is on the west side of Poniente, towards Finestrat, and Wikivoyage recommends it for a relaxed holiday away from the late nights and discos. It has an accessible bathing point and is the furthest area from Levante's nightlife.
Further out, the Michelin Guide's Benidorm hotels page lists resort hotels such as Barceló Asia Gardens and VIVOOD, each more than 8 km from the centre. At that distance you will need a car, taxi or bus to reach the beach or the bars.

Practical tips for choosing
There is no tourist tax in Benidorm in 2026: a Valencian regional tax was created in 2022 but repealed before it took effect, and no new tax was in progress as of May 2026.
If you stay away from the centre, the Avanza urban bus costs €1.60 for a single (€1.75 at night), with tourist passes at €12 for 24 hours and €48 for seven days. See our getting around Benidorm guide and the airport bus page.
Light sleepers should ask for a room away from the street in the Rincón de Loix and on the Strip; families who want both beach and entertainment usually do best on Levante. For safety advice, see is Benidorm safe?

Where to stay in Benidorm — FAQs
What is the best area to stay in Benidorm?
For most visitors, Levante: it is where most people stay, the beach is 2.1 km long with a Blue Flag, and the bars and shows are close by. Choose the Old Town for couples and food, Poniente for a quieter Spanish feel, and La Cala for peace away from late nights.
Where should families stay in Benidorm?
Levante and Poniente both suit families. Wikivoyage calls Levante ideal for families and groups, while Guía Repsol says calmer Poniente suits families with children, and its beach has six play areas. Avoid street-facing rooms on Calle Gerona if the children need early nights.
Where is the quietest place to stay in Benidorm?
La Cala, on the west side of Poniente towards Finestrat, is recommended by Wikivoyage for a relaxed holiday away from late nights and discos. Poniente itself is also quieter than Levante. Out-of-town resort hotels are quieter still but need transport.
Where do stag and hen groups stay in Benidorm?
Most stay in the Rincón de Loix or close to Calle Gerona, the Strip, so they can walk between the show bars and back. Expect noise late at night, and check that your hotel accepts groups before booking.
Where was the Benidorm TV series filmed?
The sitcom Benidorm was filmed at the Sol Pelícanos Ocas hotel on Calle Gerona, according to Wikivoyage. Our filming locations guide covers the hotel and other spots from the show.
Is the Old Town a good place to stay in Benidorm?
Yes, if you want character and food more than British bars. Wikivoyage says couples and more mature visitors prefer it. It sits between Levante and Poniente, with Tapas Alley, the Balcón del Mediterráneo and Mal Pas cove close by, and smaller boutique hotels.
Is there a tourist tax in Benidorm?
No. A Valencian regional tourist tax was created in 2022 but repealed before it came into force, and as of May 2026 no tax applied anywhere in the Valencian Community and no new bill was in progress.
