How to get to Algar from Benidorm by bus

The simplest way is Llorente Bus line 018, the once-a-day direct service to the falls. It is one of six trips in our day trips from Benidorm guide, and the only coastal-resort bus that drops you at the gate.

On 12 October 2026 the 018 left Av. Mariners de la Vila 16 in Cala Finestrat at 09:55. It then picked up through Benidorm at Pérez Devesa, Jaime I, Benidorm Centro, Av. Mediterráneo, the Rincón de Loix and Severo Ochoa, before running through La Nucía and Polop to the "Cº Fonts (Dinopark)" stop. The return left the falls at 17:00.

Schedules change, so check the Avanza line 018 page the day before.

The hourly 052 bus and taxi route

If 09:55 is too early or 17:00 too late, take the hourly line 052. It runs from 06:30 to 22:30 between Av. Mediterráneo 3 (Benidorm Centro) and Callosa d'en Sarrià, the town below the falls.

From Callosa it is about 3 km to Fonts de l'Algar. The official site suggests a taxi (about €7) or walking, though walking adds time in the heat.

For the return, Radio Taxi Callosa is on +34 96 681 00 10. Our Benidorm taxis page lists ranks and numbers on the Benidorm side.

    Algar ticket prices in 2026

Expect to pay between about €4 and €8 for an adult, but published prices disagree, so check the official site before you go. The official FAQ only confirms that seniors and students get a discount and that groups of 20 or more pay a group rate.

Benidormseriously's 2026 tables give €6 for adults in low season (16 October to 14 June) and €8 in high season, with children aged 4–10 at €3 all year. Kidvoyage lists €4 and €5 for adults and €2 for children. Under-4s go free according to Benidormseriously.

    Opening times and summer sessions

In July and August the falls work on timed sessions. According to the official 2026 opening times, visits run from 9:00 to 13:00, from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, and you must leave by the end of your session.

Day tickets are sold at the gate only until capacity is reached. Online tickets must be bought at least 24 hours in advance, which is the safest option for a summer visit. If you arrive on the 018 from Benidorm, the 13:00–16:00 session fits the bus times best.

Outside summer, hours vary by month. Check the official site for the day you plan to go.

    Swimming in the pools

You can swim in seven natural pools, called tolls, along the river. The water stays about 18°C all year, which feels cold even in August, so expect a sharp intake of breath.

Lifeguards are on duty only at Easter and in summer; at other times you swim at your own risk.

The official site recommends water shoes or jelly shoes for the river and flat, comfortable shoes for the paths. Kidvoyage puts the route at about 1.5 km, taking about 45 minutes at a steady pace, and suggests a hat and plenty of water.

    Rules, food and facilities

Pack with the official rules in mind.

    • No glass and no alcohol.
    • Food only in the picnic area. In July and August, anyone bringing food uses Entrance 2, which has free lockers.
    • Dogs are banned from 15 June to 15 September.
    • Pushchairs are not advised because of the steps, so bring a baby carrier.
    • There are four restaurants near the falls if you would rather not carry lunch.
    • Free parking is 700 m from the entrance, and private car parks charge about €5.

    DinoPark Algar next door

DinoPark Algar sits inside Cactus d'Algar at Callosa d'en Sarrià, about 17 km from Benidorm, and the 018 bus terminates at the stop named after it. It has around 30 life-size dinosaurs, fossil digging and play areas.

Tickets cost €20 for adults (13+) and €15 for children aged 4–12, and the source gives under-3s or under-4s free. Parking and a 3D cinema are included. It opens from March to November: 10:00–18:00 in March–June and September–October, 10:00–20:00 in July and August, and 10:00–17:00 in November.

    A sample day by bus

Catch the 018 at your Benidorm stop shortly after its 09:55 start, walk the route while it is cooler, then swim and picnic. Be back at the stop well before 17:00, as missing it means the 052 from Callosa or a taxi. You will be home for an evening show; check what's on tonight. Other easy outings include Guadalest and Altea.

Mediterráneo and the Rincón de Loix. Alternatively, take the hourly 052 to Callosa d'en Sarrià and a taxi for the last 3 km (about €7).

How much does it cost to get into the Algar waterfalls?

Yes, in seven natural pools along the river. The water is about 18°C all year, so it feels cold. Lifeguards work only at Easter and in summer, and at other times you swim at your own risk. Water shoes are recommended because the rocks are slippery.

Dogs are banned from 15 June to 15 September under the official rules. Pushchairs are not advised at any time because of the steps along the route, which is about 1.5 km and takes around 45 minutes, so bring a baby carrier instead.

What should I bring to the Algar waterfalls?

Water shoes for the river, flat comfortable shoes for the paths, swimwear, a towel, a hat, sun cream and plenty of water. Leave glass and alcohol behind, as both are banned.
