    About Benidorm's climate

Benidorm's microclimate is protected by the Sierra Helada mountain range that curves round the north side of the bay. The sierra shields the resort from cold northerly winds in winter and channels a cooling sea breeze through the bay in summer. The result is one of the most reliable climates in Europe: mild winters (17°C average in January), hot but breezy summers (32°C in August), and around 300 sunny days per year.

Rainfall is low — about 300mm annually, less than London, Manchester or Dublin — and concentrated in short bursts during spring and autumn rather than steady drizzle. The wettest month on average is October, when Mediterranean DANA storms occasionally deliver a month's rain in a single afternoon.

Sea temperatures lag the air by about six weeks — coldest in February (14°C) and warmest in August–September (26°C). September is often the sweet spot: the sea is at its warmest, the air still summery, and the crowds have thinned out.
