    Your options at a glance

Most visitors walk within their area, use Avanza's urban buses to cross town, and take the TRAM for day trips. The resort is long: Wikivoyage notes that walking from one end of Benidorm to the other takes over an hour, so the bus is worth it between the Rincón de Loix, Levante, the Old Town and Poniente.

Taxis fill the gaps late at night and to the airport. For what everything costs, see our Benidorm prices 2026 index, and for trips out of town, our day trips from Benidorm guide.

TRAM Line 1: Benidorm to Villajoyosa and Alicante

TRAM L1 links Benidorm with Alicante (Luceros) in about 72 minutes, with trams every 30 minutes. They leave Benidorm at 05 and 35 minutes past the hour, from 06:35 on weekdays and 07:05 at weekends, with the last at 22:05.

Benidorm has two main stops: Benidorm station on Avenida Beniardà, which is gated and sells travel cards, and Benidorm Intermodal by the bus station on the edge of town. Villajoyosa is about 15 to 18 minutes away, and Terra Mítica also has a stop. For a day in the city, see our Alicante from Benidorm guide.

TRAM Line 9: Altea, Calpe and Dénia

L9 runs north from Benidorm along the coast to Dénia, and it is the line for Altea and Calpe, not L1. It reopened in full on 28 January 2025 after its viaducts were renewed, and Altea station handled about 290,000 passengers in the first year.

Altea is about 30 minutes away and Calpe about 40 to 50 minutes. See our Benidorm to Altea guide for what to see when you arrive.

TRAM fares from 1 October 2026

TRAM fares rose on 1 October 2026: a single went from €1.45 to €2 for one zone. Benidorm and Altea are in zone B, Alicante and El Campello in zone A, and Calpe to Dénia in zone C, so Benidorm to Alicante is a two-zone fare.

    Taxis in Benidorm

Licensed taxis work from ranks across town and can be booked by phone. Our Benidorm taxis guide covers ranks and fares, and you can find the numbers on Radio Taxi Benidorm and Benidorm taxi phone number.

Only use licensed taxis. The UK government's travel advice for Spain warns that using an unlicensed taxi can lead to a fine of up to €600. Late at night, agree to wait at an official rank rather than accepting a lift from a driver who approaches you.

Open-top bus, mobility scooters and walking

For a sightseeing loop with commentary, the Benidorm open-top bus tour page has routes and tickets. If walking long distances is difficult, see mobility scooter rental in Benidorm.

Walking is the best way to explore within an area, from Levante to the Old Town along the seafront. In an emergency anywhere, call 112.

Do children travel free on the TRAM?
