What to Do in Benidorm on a Rainy Day

Updated 12/10/2026 by the onbenidorm team · Opening times checked October 2026

On a rainy day in Benidorm, head for the free Museu Boca del Calvari (daily from 12:00), the indoor market, a soft play centre with the children, or an afternoon show in the cabaret bars. Benidorm has no confirmed bowling alley or English-language cinema, so for a bigger day out take the TRAM to Alicante (about 72 minutes) or Villajoyosa's chocolate museum.

What to do in Benidorm when it rains

Rain in Benidorm is uncommon but not rare in autumn, and the town has fewer indoor attractions than its size suggests, so the best rainy days combine a museum or market with an afternoon show or a TRAM trip.

Most of the headline attractions in our things to do in Benidorm guide are outdoors, including the theme parks. The ideas below are the ones that work under a roof.

Indoor things to do in Benidorm

Benidorm's indoor options are a free museum, a covered market, soft play for children, spas and the shows in its bars.

    Museu Boca del Calvari

The town museum on Calle Tomás Ortuño is free and open daily 12:00–20:00 (until 22:00 in summer). Allow an hour for the three floors of temporary exhibitions and the archaeological room, which holds more than 500 pieces. Free guided visits are offered.

    The indoor market

For browsing under cover, the Benidorm indoor market is the obvious choice. Our page has the location and what you will find there.

    Soft play centres

Visit Benidorm lists five children's play centres: Chiqui Park Piruetes, El Escondite, Festilandia, Happyland and Magic Place. The tourist board gives only phone numbers, so ring ahead to check opening hours and prices before you set off.

    Spas and wellness

Visit Benidorm lists yoga and pilates studios and a Japanese Head Spa on Avenida Doctor Severo Ochoa, but publishes no prices. Many larger hotels also have their own spas, so ask at reception.

    Casino

Listings for Casino Mediterráneo Benidorm disagree on its address, hours and entry terms.

Afternoon shows, bingo and sport in bars

When it rains, the cabaret and pub scene starts early, and an afternoon show is the most Benidorm way to sit out a shower.

Check what's on this afternoon for matinee acts and karaoke sessions. Our bingo and quiz nights guide lists the bars that run cash bingo, and the karaoke bars guide covers where to sing. If there is a match on, see live football in Benidorm tonight. In the evening, Benidorm Palace is fully indoors and runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

What Benidorm doesn't have: bowling and cinema

To save you a wasted trip: there is no confirmed bowling alley in Benidorm itself, and no confirmed cinema showing films in English.

The bowling centre that appears online as Ozone Bowling Benidorm is actually at Avenida del Mediterráneo 22 in Alicante, with 10 lanes, opening from 11:00. For English-language (original version) films, The Local lists only Alicante cinemas: Yelmo Puerta de Alicante and Kinépolis.

    Partly outdoor options

Several attractions are worth it in a light shower but miserable in heavy rain, because most of the experience is outside.

    • Mundomar is mainly an open-air park; its shows are in outdoor arenas.
    • Terra Mítica is outdoors and some rides close in bad weather, and tickets cannot be refunded.
    • Karting Benidorm on Avenida de la Comunitat Valenciana is an outdoor track, open daily 10:30–20:00.
    • Terra Natura is a walk-through zoo with little cover.

    Rainy day trips by TRAM

The TRAM is the best rainy-day escape: trams leave Benidorm for Alicante at :05 and :35 past the hour, take about 72 minutes to Luceros, and a single costs €2.90 for two zones or €4 for three since October 2026.

In Alicante, entry to Santa Bárbara Castle and its MUSA museum is free, the castle lift costs €2.70 one way, and there is a Mercado stop for the Mercado Central, which opens Monday to Saturday mornings. Our Alicante from Benidorm guide has the full timetable.

Closer to home, Villajoyosa is about 15–18 minutes away on the same line. The Valor Chocolate Museum there runs guided tours of about 45 minutes; book online.

What to Do in Benidorm on a Rainy Day — FAQs

    Is there bowling in Benidorm?

We could not confirm a bowling alley in Benidorm itself. The centre listed online as Ozone Bowling Benidorm is at Avenida del Mediterráneo 22 in Alicante, with 10 lanes and opening from 11:00. If you want to bowl, combine it with a TRAM trip to Alicante and check opening times first.

Is there an English cinema in Benidorm?

We found no confirmed cinema in Benidorm showing films in English. The Local's list of original-version cinemas includes only Alicante venues, Yelmo Puerta de Alicante and Kinépolis. Check their listings for VOSE (original version with Spanish subtitles) screenings before travelling.

Is Mundomar good on a rainy day?

Not really. Mundomar is mainly an outdoor park, with shows in open-air arenas and walkways between the animal areas. In a light shower it can still be enjoyable and less crowded, but in heavy rain you will spend much of the visit wet. Save it for a dry day if you can.

How often does it rain in Benidorm?

Not often. AEMET's averages for nearby Alicante show about 37 days a year with 1 mm or more of rain and 311 mm in total. October has the most wet days (4.5) and September the most rain by volume (56 mm). July averages under one wet day.

What can kids do in Benidorm when it rains?

The best options are soft play centres such as Happyland, Festilandia and El Escondite, the free Boca del Calvari museum, family shows in hotels, and a TRAM trip to Alicante, which is free for under-14s until 31 December 2026. Ring soft play centres ahead, as hours are not published.

Is the Valor chocolate museum worth a rainy day?

It is a good indoor option close to Benidorm. The museum in Villajoyosa, about 15–18 minutes away by TRAM, runs guided tours of about 45 minutes, with English tours at 10:00, 15:00 and 16:00 on weekdays and 10:00 on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and holidays, and you need to book online.
