Parking in Benidorm
Updated 15/10/2026 by the onbenidorm team · Rules checked October 2026
Parking in Benidorm means avoiding the low-emission zone (ZBE) unless you have a permit: cameras cover the centre and both seafront promenades, and entering without authorisation costs €200 (€100 if paid early). Use the free municipal car parks on the edge of the centre, the blue zone (two hours maximum, free on Sundays) or a public car park such as l'Aigüera.

Should you drive in Benidorm?
Most visitors do not need a car in town. Inside Benidorm, the urban bus, TRAM and taxis cover most journeys; our getting around Benidorm guide has fares and routes.
If you do drive, plan for the camera-enforced low-emission zone and the shortage of free spaces near the beaches. A car helps most for Guadalest, the Algar waterfalls and Calpe. Collecting a hire car at Alicante airport? Ask your hotel first whether it is inside the zone and registers guest cars.
Benidorm's low-emission zone (ZBE)
The ZBE has been fully enforced since 1 July 2025, after a six-month information phase. It covers about 74 hectares in three parts: the centre and Old Town, the Levante seafront and the Poniente seafront.
Number-plate cameras watch 24 access points: 11 entries, 8 exits and 5 combined entry-exit points. Foreign-registered vehicles follow the same rules as Spanish ones.
Do not assume an environmental sticker gets you in. An early council leaflet said cars with C, ECO or Zero labels could enter, but the council's June 2025 guidance said any vehicle entering needs the relevant permit whatever its label, except registered residents in the centre. Labels cannot be issued to foreign-plated cars anyway, so register before you drive in.
| Driver | Centre | Levante and Poniente seafronts |
|---|---|---|
| Registered Benidorm resident | No permit needed | Resident permit |
| Hotel or apartment guest | Permit via zbe.benidorm.org or your hotel | Permit via zbe.benidorm.org or your hotel |

| Day visitor with no booking | Use a car park outside the zone | Use a car park outside the zone |
How to get a ZBE permit as a visitor
Visitors apply online at zbe.benidorm.org. Register with the person icon at the top right, open Solicitudes, choose Solicitar permiso and then Permiso especial, and track the request under Mis permisos. The Local's guide for drivers from abroad says to register with your ID and vehicle details and choose the visitor permit.
Many hotels inside the zone register guests for you. Port Hotels, for example, asks for your name, booking number and plate with the booking confirmation, and guests without a permit can ask at reception.
If you are only parking, you need do nothing: the council says public car parks inside the zone report your plate to the system.
ZBE fines
Entering without authorisation costs €200, cut to €100 if you pay within the voluntary period. In August 2026 the council said most fines were issued at the Calle Pérez Llorca and Calle Esperanto entrances.
Blue zone and street parking rules
Benidorm's blue zone (zona azul) is pay-and-display street parking with a two-hour maximum. A September 2026 parking guide gives these hours; check the meter for the current price.
- The same guide lists €0.50 an hour and €1 for the two-hour maximum.
- Green and orange zones are for registered residents. In orange zones, non-residents can get one to three hours free by showing a local purchase of €5 to €15 or more.
- Blue-zone spaces inside the ZBE are reserved for zone residents and workers.
| Period | Monday to Friday | Saturday | Sunday and holidays |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 October to 31 May | 09:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00 | 09:00–14:00 | Free |
| 1 June to 30 September | 09:00–14:00 and 16:00–21:00 | 09:00–14:00 | Free |
Public car parks and prices
The most central public car park is l'Aigüera, under the town hall beside the Old Town and l'Aigüera park. The council's price sheet gives €0.0317 a minute (about €1.90 an hour) with a €38 daily maximum, and a lower hotel-guest rate when your hotel sends your plate and dates to the car park office.
Local guides also name Parking Benidorm Centro on Avenida de Europa, handy for Levante, and car parks at the Mercado, Tomás Ortuño, Ruzafa and Rincón de Loix; check prices at the barrier.
| Rate | Per hour | Daily maximum |
|---|---|---|
| General | About €1.90 | €38 |
| Hotel guest (hotel registers your plate) | €1.50 | €36 |
| Lost ticket | Charged as a full day | €38 |
Free parking in Benidorm
Benidorm's free car parks sit around the edge of the centre. The council's map shows about 33 free municipal car parks with roughly 7,000 spaces, though some are resident-only at times.
- Poniente side: Avenida de Beniardà, Avenida Comunidad Europea, Salt de l'Aigua and Avenida de Cuba.
- Levante side: Avenida de Inglaterra, Parc de Foietes and the bullring (Plaza de Toros).
- Elsewhere: Avenida Xixo, Avenida de la Vila Joiosa, Francisco Llorca Antón and the Lérida area.
- Las Terrazas, off Avenida de Europa: non-residents park on alternating days according to the last digit of the plate.
- Aqualandia and Mundomar share a free car park; Terra Natura charges €5 and Terra Mítica €10 a car.
Motorhomes and campervans
Motorhomes should avoid the centre, where underground car parks rarely take the height. The Terra Natura motorhome area, about 4 km from Benidorm, has about 40 places with overnight stays, water, showers, electricity and waste disposal.
Under a Spanish traffic authority instruction in force from 1 October 2026, sleeping in a correctly parked motorhome is not an offence, but putting out awnings, tables, chairs or levelling chocks counts as camping. Municipal fines for unauthorised camping are typically about €200, and camping on the beach is banned outright.

Parking in Benidorm — FAQs
Can tourists drive into Benidorm's low-emission zone?
Only with a permit. The ZBE covers the centre and the Levante and Poniente seafronts, and cameras read every plate. Hotel guests can apply at zbe.benidorm.org or ask their hotel to register the car, and drivers heading to a public car park inside the zone are reported automatically by the car park.
How much is the fine for entering the ZBE in Benidorm?
€200, reduced to €100 if you pay within the voluntary payment period. In August 2026 the council said most offences were recorded at the Calle Pérez Llorca and Calle Esperanto entrances, and that most offenders were residents of nearby towns rather than tourists.
Does my foreign car need a Spanish emissions sticker?
Spain's traffic authority cannot issue environmental labels to foreign-plated cars. Benidorm's council says foreign vehicles follow the same rules as Spanish ones, so the safe approach is to register the car for a visitor permit at zbe.benidorm.org before you drive into the zone.
Is parking free in Benidorm on Sundays?
Yes for the blue zone: on-street pay-and-display parking is free on Sundays and public holidays. Car parks such as l'Aigüera still charge, and resident-only green and orange zones still apply, so read the signs before leaving the car.
Where can I park for free in Benidorm?
The council's map shows about 33 free car parks with roughly 7,000 spaces around the edge of the centre, including Avenida de Beniardà, Avenida de Cuba, Avenida de Inglaterra, Parc de Foietes and the bullring. They fill quickly in summer, so arrive early.
Where can motorhomes stay near Benidorm?
The Terra Natura motorhome area, about 4 km from Benidorm, has around 40 places with overnight stays, water, showers, electricity and waste disposal. Underground car parks in the centre are usually too low, and setting out chairs or awnings on the street counts as camping.
