Quick answer: Alicante is Benidorm's nearest airport, but Valencia and Murcia (Corvera) are both about an hour and a half away by car. From Valencia, the quickest public-transport route is the metro into the city, then an ALSA coach from Valencia bus station, which runs about hourly and takes around 1 hour 45 minutes. Direct coaches from Valencia airport exist but are infrequent and take about four hours. From Murcia airport, a car or pre-booked transfer is the practical option.
The three airports compared
| Airport | Distance to Benidorm | By car | Best public transport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alicante-Elche (ALC) | About 60 km | About 45 minutes | Direct ALSA airport bus |
| Valencia (VLC) | About 158 km | About 1 hour 30 minutes | Metro to the city, then ALSA coach |
| Murcia (RMU), Corvera | About 140 km | About 1 hour 30 minutes | No convenient direct bus; car or transfer |

Valencia airport to Benidorm
Via Valencia city (fastest by public transport). Take Metrovalencia from the airport into the city and continue to the Estació d'Autobusos (bus station). ALSA runs coaches from there to Benidorm bus station about once an hour, with fares of roughly €19–40 and a journey of about 1 hour 45 minutes (Rome2Rio).
Direct coach from the airport. ALSA does run direct services from Valencia airport, but only once or twice a day on some days, and they take about four hours because they call at towns along the coast (CheckMyBus, Rome2Rio). Only use them if the times suit your flight.
Shared rides. BlaBlaCar lists car-share trips between Benidorm and Valencia airport of about 1 hour 10 minutes (Omio). Availability varies.
Car. The drive is about 158 km down the coast. Tolls were removed from this stretch of the AP-7 in 2020, so it is the quickest road.
Murcia airport to Benidorm
Región de Murcia International Airport at Corvera is about 140 km from Benidorm, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes by car. We could not find a convenient direct bus. On public transport you would need to reach Murcia city and continue to Alicante before taking the Benidorm bus, which makes for a long day. For most visitors, hiring a car or booking a transfer in advance is the sensible choice.
Is it worth flying to Valencia or Murcia?
It can be, if the flight saves you a lot or suits your times better. Count the extra cost: a coach and metro fare from Valencia, or a transfer or car hire from Murcia, plus around 1–3 extra hours of travel. Valencia also makes a good stopover: see our Valencia from Benidorm guide for what to see.
Arriving in Benidorm
Coaches arrive at Benidorm bus station on the edge of town, by the Intermodal TRAM stop. From there, take a taxi or a local bus to your hotel; see getting around Benidorm. Drivers should check our parking guide.
