Jet skis in Benidorm and the licence rules

Most visitors ride on a guided tour. Carlos Jet Ski Benidorm lists a basic circuit from Levante beach out and around Benidorm Island from €100 per two-seat ski, lasting about 45–60 minutes. The price includes a life jacket, briefing, insurance, fuel and a monitor.

Spanish rules changed on 1 October 2026. An amendment to Royal Decree 875/2014 narrowed the exception that let tourists rent boats without a licence, and Spanish press reports say jet skis are excluded from any no-licence exception. The Licencia de Navegación covers small jet skis, from age 18, or 16 with a parent or guardian's written consent.

Before the change, Excursiones Benidorm said its guided jet ski tours needed no licence because a monitor rides with the group, from age 16 with parental authorisation and with ID required.

    • Bring photo ID.
    • Keep well away from swimmers. The Guardia Civil reminds riders to stay at least 200 m from bathing areas.
    • Wear the life jacket you are given at all times.

    Parasailing, banana boats and inflatables

No experience is needed for either.

    Parasailing

Carlos Water Sports lists parasailing from €30–€40, with about 10 minutes in the air and 15–20 minutes in total. You fly at more than 50 m, solo, in pairs or in threes, from a boat that holds up to ten people. It accepts children from age 4, with an adult required for under-16s, and you must be able to swim. Excursiones Benidorm's parasailing page sets a minimum age of 8.

    Banana boats and fly fish

Banana rides cost from €35 with both main operators and last about 10–15 minutes. Carlos Water Sports takes riders from age 6, with two to ten people per ride. Water Sports Benidorm also lists a 12-minute fly fish ride from €35. These are popular with stag and hen groups.

    Cable Ski Benidorm

Cable Ski Benidorm is a cable-tow water-ski and wakeboard park in the sea off the Rincón de Loix, at Av. de Madrid 33. Visit Benidorm says it dates from 1966. It is a 1,000 m² circuit with four towers linked by a cable that pulls skiers, so no boat is needed, and up to 12 people can ride at once.

On Manawa, beginner sessions cost €33 for two hours, €46 for four hours and €56 for a full day, including a life jacket, helmet, lessons and a board. Advanced sessions cost €45, €55 and €65. The minimum age is 8, and it runs from Easter to October, according to Visit Benidorm.

    Paddleboarding, kayaking and flyboard

These calmer options suit early mornings, when the bay is flattest.

    • Paddleboard: Aquasports Benidorm lists one-hour board hire from €35, including a board, paddle, buoyancy vest and insurance, from its kiosk at the port and on Levante and Poniente.
    • Kayak: Excursiones Benidorm sells a two-hour guided kayak trip along Levante with stops to swim and snorkel. No experience is needed, but you must be able to swim.
    • Flyboard: Flyboard Benidorm on Poniente gives a short theory briefing and then an instructor-led session, with a minimum age of 16. It does not publish a Benidorm price.

    Diving and snorkelling

Benidorm Island and the Mitjana islet are the main dive sites, both in the protected Serra Gelada Natural Park. Visit Benidorm says the calm coves suit first-timers.

Two centres list island try-dives on Yumping. Diving Stones and Nisos Benidorm both charge from €95 for about four hours; Diving Stones goes to a maximum of 6 m with an instructor, with kit, boat and insurance included. Nisos also runs PADI and SSI courses.

To snorkel without a dive boat, try the northern coves in our Benidorm beaches guide or take the Benidorm Island boat.

When to go and safety tips

The main season runs from Easter to October, with the most operators open from June to September; see Benidorm weather in June and October. Operators move or refund trips cancelled for bad weather.

    • Book a day ahead in July and August, and go early, when the sea is calmest.
    • Free swim platforms float off Levante and Poniente from 15 June to 1 September.
    • Check where to meet: some operators have a beach base and a port base.
    • For a water-park day instead, see Aqualandia and our Benidorm with kids guide.
