What's on in Benidorm in May
May opens with the 1 May public holiday (a Saturday in 2027). Parque de Elche hosts a medieval market over one May weekend, according to mercadillos.org; exact 2027 dates are not out.

What's open and closed in May
By the last week of May everything is open. Earlier in the month, check opening days carefully.
- Terra Mítica: the 2026 season began on 15 May. Taquilla.com says only the Egypt, Greece and Rome areas open from mid-May to June, with Iberia and Las Islas from 1 July.
- Aqualandia: opened on 23 May in 2026, 10:00–19:00 or 20:00.
- Mundomar and Terra Natura: open daily, per taquilla.com.
- Beaches: lifeguards are on duty year-round; the reinforced summer service starts on 1 June.
Is May a good time to visit Benidorm?
May is one of the most balanced months: warm, sunny and calmer than July and August. Imserso's high season covers May, so expect plenty of Spanish senior groups in hotels.

Pack for summer days with a light layer for 14°C evenings. Buy Terra Mítica and Aqualandia tickets online: the official price lists show €35 adult online against €41 at the gate. If you are travelling early in the month, confirm park opening days first. Benidorm in June brings full beach services.

Is Aqualandia open in May?
From late May. Its 2026 season began on 23 May, according to taquilla.com, and the official calendar covers May to September. The 2027 opening date had not been announced when we checked, so look it up before booking a trip around it.
Is Terra Mítica open in May?
Yes, from mid-May. The park announced a 15 May opening for 2026. Early in the season taquilla.com reports that only the Egypt, Greece and Rome areas open, with Iberia and Las Islas following from 1 July.
Is the sea warm enough to swim in May?
For most people it is refreshing rather than warm. The average is 19.1°C on seatemperature.org's figures, up from 16.3°C in April. Many visitors swim on hot afternoons; the water becomes comfortable for longer swims in June.
How hot is Benidorm in May?
AEMET's normals give an average high of 24.1°C and a low of 14.1°C, with 8.9 hours of sunshine a day. That is warm enough for the beach but rarely uncomfortably hot, which makes it a good month for sightseeing as well.
Is May a busy month in Benidorm?
It is busier than April but well below summer. May falls in the Imserso programme's high season, so Spanish senior groups are common in hotels, while the school-holiday crowds arrive from late June.
Are there festivals in Benidorm in May?
There is no single headline festival confirmed for May 2027. In 2026 the Iberia Festival played on 23 May, and a medieval market runs at Parque de Elche over one May weekend. The 1 May public holiday is a Saturday in 2027.
