Terralta Apartments Benidorm

Terralta sits in Rincón de Loix, the quieter residential pocket at the far end of Levante. It is a 10-minute downhill walk to Levante Beach, around 8 minutes on foot to the Calle Gerona / Calle Lepanto English square, and surrounded by mini-markets, bakeries, bars and restaurants. The location is genuinely useful for families: you can walk to the beach, walk to the bars when you want a night out, and walk home with the kids without a taxi.

Because it is set slightly back from the seafront, the area around Terralta is noticeably calmer than the strip itself — much less traffic noise at night and a real neighbourhood feel during the day. The walk back uphill in the evening is the only mild downside; most families just take a short taxi if they're carrying tired toddlers or bags of shopping.

There are two large outdoor pools at Terralta, both with their own sun-terrace, palm gardens and loungers. The headline feature for families is the splash slide tower in the main pool area — a multi-coloured kids' tower with a yellow tube slide, a green wave slide and a large tipping water bucket that drenches the pool every couple of minutes. Children genuinely love it, and parents get to sit a few metres away rather than having to walk to a separate water park.

There is a separate shallow kids' splash area for under-5s, plenty of poolside loungers, and the second pool tends to be the calmer one for guests who just want to swim. Both pools are lit in the evening — the Terralta mosaic logo lit up in the bottom of the main pool is one of the most recognisable photos of the complex.

Apartments are arranged across low-rise yellow blocks set around the pools and gardens. Standard one-bedroom apartments have a separate twin or double bedroom, a full bathroom with shower, an open-plan living and dining area with a sofa-bed for one or two extra guests, and a fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven or microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and full cooking and dining ware. Two-bedroom apartments add a second twin bedroom for larger families or groups.

Every apartment has air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a safe (payable locally) and a private balcony or terrace. The two main balcony views are pool view (overlooking the slides, gardens and apartment blocks) and inland mountain view looking towards the Sierra Helada and the rugged limestone peaks behind the resort. The pool-view balconies are the upgrade most guests recommend; the inland view is quieter and good for sleeping if you have small children.

Terralta is sold as a self-catering apartment hotel. There is an optional breakfast and a snack bar on-site in season, but the assumption is that most guests will use the kitchen for breakfast, lunch and the occasional dinner. There are several small supermarkets and a Mercadona within easy walking distance, plus a row of bakeries, butchers and fruit shops just outside the gates.

For nights when no one wants to cook, Rincón de Loix and the top end of Levante are packed with restaurants — British-style cafés, Spanish family restaurants, Italian and Indian options, kebab houses, pizzerias and proper Spanish menú-del-día spots, most within a 5-minute walk. The English square at Calle Gerona is the obvious go-to for evening entertainment and is around 8 minutes on foot.

On top of the two pools and splash zone, Terralta has a 24-hour reception, a poolside bar in season, free Wi-Fi in public areas, on-site parking (limited spaces, payable locally), lift access in the accommodation blocks and a small play area for younger children. Sun-loungers and parasols around the pools are included.

The complex does not run an all-inclusive board basis, does not have an entertainment team or animation programme, and does not have a spa, gym or indoor pool. That is by design — Terralta is a value-led self-catering complex, not an entertainment resort. Families who want nightly stage shows and an animation team should look at a Magic or Servigroup hotel instead.

This is a near-perfect fit for value-conscious families who want their own kitchen, separate bedrooms for parents and kids, and a complex with a proper kids' splash area — without paying 4-star all-inclusive prices. Multi-generational groups also do well here because the two-bedroom apartments give grandparents their own room and bathroom.

Terralta also works well for groups of friends and longer-stay guests (1–3 week stays) who don't want the rigidity of hotel meal times and want the freedom of a kitchen, a balcony for breakfast and a 10-minute walk to both the beach and the nightlife. It is less suited to couples looking for a romantic adult retreat, or anyone wanting in-resort evening entertainment and an animation team.
