Ambassador Playa 2 Hotel Benidorm

The Ambassador Playa 2 is on Calle Gerona 39-41, which puts it right in the middle of the pedestrianised British strip. From the front door you're two minutes from the tribute-act bars (Tropical Bar, Sinatra's, Morgan Tavern) and a short walk down to Levante Beach — one of the flattest, easiest walks to the sand of any hotel in this zone.

Aqualandia and Mundomar are a short walk uphill, the Old Town is around 20-25 minutes along the promenade, and Alicante Airport is roughly 45 minutes by pre-booked transfer or taxi.

The rooms have been refurbished with a light, coastal-inspired style: pale wood headboards, whitewashed walls, mint and turquoise accents, and framed prints. Every room has a private balcony (many looking over Benidorm's skyline and Calle Gerona) and modern bathrooms with backlit round mirrors and walk-in showers.

There are twin, double, triple and family configurations, all with air conditioning, TV, safe (charge), Wi-Fi and daily housekeeping. The setup works well for couples, small groups of friends and families of up to four.

The Ambassador Playa 2 has an outdoor pool with a dedicated children's pool alongside it, set on a sun terrace with loungers. It's a straightforward pool zone rather than a lagoon — the trade-off for being on Calle Gerona rather than in a bigger inland resort — but perfectly sized for a hotel of this scale and rarely feels crowded.

The main restaurant is a bright buffet space with rattan chairs, tropical ceiling fans and large windows out over the pool. Meals cover a rotating mix of Spanish and international dishes — grills, pasta, salads, cold meats, curries — with a proper dessert counter that includes cakes, fresh fruit and seasonal specials (Christmas cakes, layered berry cups etc.).

Bed and breakfast, half board and all-inclusive packages are all offered, with pool and lobby bars available for extra drinks and snacks through the day.

The Ambassador Playa 2 works best for guests who want to be as close as possible to the Calle Gerona bar scene without paying seafront prices — stag/hen groups, groups of friends on a lads' or girls' trip, and couples doing a classic Benidorm strip week. The children's pool, family rooms and buffet make it viable for families too, but the location leans lively rather than quiet.
