    Benidorm's chippies at a glance

Benidorm has a handful of dedicated British chip shops plus many British bars that fry fish to order. The chippies cluster between the town centre and the Rincón de Loix, and most close earlier than the bars around them, often by 20:00. This page is part of our best restaurants in Benidorm coverage.

    Levante and the town centre

The two Ray's shops are the names most often recommended on forums and in Spanish press round-ups of British chippies.

Ray's 2 Fish and Chips, Avenida del Mediterráneo

Ray's 2 is a small corner shop at Avenida del Mediterráneo 58, behind the tobacconist, and scores 4.5 on TripAdvisor from 633 reviews. A September 2025 reviewer paid €14.95 for a meal deal of fish, chips, bread and butter, a drink and a dessert; mushy peas and beans cost extra. It opens Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 20:00, and is closed at weekends. It is the only chippy we found that lists gluten-free options.

    Ray's1 Chippy, Calle San Vicente

Ray's1 on Calle San Vicente, a short walk from the Old Town, serves large haddock and cod fillets cooked to order. A June 2026 reviewer paid €17 for a large cod with bread, butter and a drink, and January 2026 reviews mention €2 for peas or curry sauce and a €2.50 charge for sharing a meal. TripAdvisor lists it as cash only, Monday to Saturday from midday, closed on Sundays.

    Daily Catch, Levante seafront

Daily Catch on Avenida Alcoi faces Levante beach and scores 8.8 on Google. Reviewers like the fish and chips and curry sauce, and Dutch visitors order kibbeling. GastroRanking puts it under €20 a head, but one diner paid €27.10 for a large fish, chips, a soft drink and a beer and felt it poor value.

Old Town and Rincón de Loix

Away from the seafront, two more chippies are worth knowing, with very different opening patterns.

    Northern Sole, Old Town

Northern Sole on Calle Sant Miquel, just off Paseo de la Carretera, scores 4.7 on Google and 4.7 on TripAdvisor. Reviewers praise crisp batter, well-cooked fish and generous portions, and the menu also has meat and fish dishes. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, 12:00 to 22:00, and closes on Mondays and Tuesdays.

    Ray's Chippy, Rincón de Loix

Ray's Chippy on Calle Derramador, also listed as The Duke of Wellington, fries haddock, hake and cod and does a well-filled steak pie. It scores 4.0 on Google from 450 reviews. Reviewers say prices beat the beachfront, but consistency is mixed and some found the published hours wrong. It is listed as closed on Thursdays.

British bars that do a good fish supper

TripAdvisor's fish and chips ranking includes several bars and cafés as well as chippies. Refuel, on the Poniente edge of the Old Town with a sea-view terrace, tops the list, and The Corner Bar in the Rincón de Loix gets mentions for a large fish and chips with garden peas. Yorkshire Pride Three and Corky's Penny Farthing on Calle Derramador also feature.

These bars suit groups who want a pint and a full menu; see our Benidorm bars guide and Sunday roast guide. For Spanish-style fried fish, try the frituras on our seafood restaurants page.

    Gluten-free fish and chips

Gluten-free battered fish is hard to find in Benidorm. Ray's 2 is the only chippy that lists gluten-free options on TripAdvisor, so ask in advance whether they can use a separate fryer.

FindMeGlutenFree lists no venue with gluten-free batter. Amigos, a steakhouse in the Old Town, uses dedicated chip fryers according to its reviewers; see our steakhouses page. Grilled fish (pescado a la plancha) at a Spanish restaurant is the safest alternative. Learn the phrase sin gluten and say you are celíaco (coeliac).

    Prices and tips

Fish and chips in Benidorm costs about the same as a menú del día. Recent reviews give €14 to €15 for a meal deal at Ray's 2 and €17 for a large cod with a drink at Ray's1, and extras such as peas or curry sauce add about €2 each.

    • Go at lunchtime. Ray's 2 closes at 20:00 and is shut at weekends; Ray's1 closes on Sundays.
    • Carry cash for Ray's1, which TripAdvisor lists as cash only.
    • Dave's Chippy on Avenida de Cuenca has cheaper reported prices (€8.95 in February 2025), but its recent reviews are mostly negative.
