Is Benidorm good for vegans and vegetarians?
Yes, if you know where to look: vegetarians eat well almost anywhere, and vegans will find good options at a handful of restaurants and every big supermarket. This guide sits under our best restaurants in Benidorm hub.
We could not confirm a fully vegan restaurant open in Benidorm. Older listings for vegan places on Calle Roldán and in the Joymar building date from 2020 or earlier, and Margem Restobar on Calle Gerona, once praised for its vegan dishes, is now listed as permanently closed. The nearest dedicated vegetarian restaurant we found is Bodhigreen in Alicante city.

Where vegans can eat, by cuisine
Vegans have the most choice in the Old Town and along the Levante side of town.
D-Vora and La Fava
D-Vora, in the RH Canfali hotel in the Old Town, and La Fava on Calle La Palma both hold a Guía Repsol Solete, and Repsol flags vegan and coeliac options at each. D-Vora's €20 three-course executive menu is the cheapest way in, and it is the most-reviewed restaurant in TheFork's Benidorm vegan category.
Nepali and Indian curry houses
Dals, chana masala and vegetable curries make Nepali and Indian kitchens the easiest places for vegans. TheFork lists Gurkha Kitchen, Nepali Chulo, Nepali Tandoori House and Cafe India among Benidorm restaurants with vegan dishes, at around €17 to €20 a head. Ask for no ghee, cream or paneer. Our Indian restaurants in Benidorm guide covers more.
Mexican, Japanese, Greek and pizza
TaKiero, a Mexican restaurant at Avenida Vicente Llorca Alós 14 near Poniente, has three to five vegan dishes, including a soy-sausage chilli; the Spinach guide rates its vegan options as limited and advises asking about sauces. Umai on Avenida del Mediterráneo does vegan sushi and miso soup. Pizzerias are a reliable vegetarian fallback; see pizza in Benidorm and Italian restaurants.
Vegetarian breakfasts and British food
Caspers in the Old Town cooks a vegetarian full English with Quorn sausages, plus a gluten-free version, and TripAdvisor reviewers call Corky's Penny Farthing in the Rincón de Loix the best veggie breakfast in Benidorm. See our full English breakfast guide.
None of the bars in our Sunday roast guide publishes a vegetarian roast. Message ahead and ask for the vegetables, potatoes and stuffing without meat or meat gravy.
Spanish dishes that are vegetarian or vegan
Plenty of Spanish tapas are naturally meat-free, but ham, tuna and chicken stock turn up in unexpected places. On Tapas Alley, these are the safest orders.
- Chicken stock (caldo de pollo) is common in soups and rice; paella valenciana contains chicken and rabbit anyway. See our paella guide.
- Traditional breads and sweets can contain lard (manteca), and bean stews often contain chorizo.
| Dish | Vegan? | What to check |

| Escalivada | Yes | Roast aubergine, peppers and onion |
| Champiñones al ajillo | Yes | Garlic mushrooms |

Useful Spanish phrases for ordering
Spain Handbook notes that just saying "soy vegano" often fails, so name exactly what you do not eat.
| Spanish | English |
|---|---|
| Soy vegetariano / vegetariana | I am vegetarian |
| Soy vegano / vegana | I am vegan |
| No como nada que proceda de un animal | I don't eat anything that comes from an animal |
| Sin carne, sin pescado, por favor | No meat, no fish, please |
| Sin atún ni huevo | No tuna or egg |
| ¿Lleva caldo de pollo? | Does it have chicken stock? |
| ¿Lleva manteca? | Does it contain lard? |
Supermarkets and self-catering
Merca2 reported in June 2026 that Alcampo, Carrefour and Mercadona lead Spain's supermarkets on vegan products, with Mercadona's own Hacendado tofu, hummus and edamame, Lidl's Vemondo plant-based range, and Aldi carrying the V-Label (a yellow circle with a green leaf) since 2015.
In the Rincón de Loix, Lidl (Avenida Doctor Severo Ochoa 4) and Aldi (Avenida Doctor Severo Ochoa 35) opened in late 2024. For fruit, vegetables, nuts and olives, try the indoor market or the outdoor markets. Our shopping guide covers Sunday opening.
Vegan-friendly hotels
On half board or all-inclusive, tell the hotel before you arrive. A 2023 Vegan Travel Guide round-up reported vegan options at Magic Aqua Rock Gardens, vegan and vegetarian buffet dishes at Hotel Servigroup Castilla, and freshly cooked vegan meals with notice at Villa del Mar. Menus change, so email ahead.
Vegan and Vegetarian Benidorm — FAQs
Is there a vegan restaurant in Benidorm?
We could not confirm a fully vegan restaurant open in Benidorm in October 2026; older listings date from 2020 or earlier. The best sit-down options are D-Vora and La Fava, both flagged by Guía Repsol for vegan dishes, and the Nepali and Indian restaurants.
Is it easy to be vegetarian in Benidorm?
Yes. Most restaurants have pizzas, pastas, omelettes, salads and vegetable curries, and tapas such as pimientos de padrón, patatas bravas and tortilla are meat-free. Check salads for tuna and soups and rice for chicken stock.
Where can vegans eat in the Rincón de Loix?
The Rincón de Loix has Indian and Nepali restaurants such as Nepali Chulo on Avenida Ametlla de Mar, where vegetable curries and dals are standard; ask for no ghee or cream. Lidl and Aldi on Avenida Doctor Severo Ochoa stock vegan burgers, tofu and plant milks.
Is paella vegetarian?
Not usually. Paella valenciana contains chicken and rabbit, and seafood paella contains fish and shellfish. Some restaurants make a paella de verduras, but ask whether it uses vegetable or chicken stock. Most rice is ordered for at least two people.
How do you say I am vegan in Spanish?
"Soy vegano" (man) or "soy vegana" (woman). Because the word is not always understood the same way, add "No como nada que proceda de un animal" (I eat nothing that comes from an animal) or list what to leave out: "sin carne, sin pescado, sin huevo".
Do Benidorm supermarkets sell vegan food?
Yes. Mercadona's Hacendado range includes tofu, hummus and edamame, Lidl sells its Vemondo vegan range, and Aldi labels products with the V-Label. Lidl and Aldi both opened in the Rincón de Loix in late 2024.
