Where is the Square in Benidorm?

The Square is the area around Avenida de Mallorca, a couple of streets back from Levante beach, which Holiday Extras calls the “English Square” for its British bars, cheap pints and live entertainment. It sits in the Rincón de Loix, in the same block as Calle Gerona and Calle Lepanto.

Barceló's guide treats Calle Gerona, Calle Lepanto and Avenida de Mallorca as one English zone, and the police close that same triangle of streets for the Fancy Dress Party. In practice the Square and the Strip run into each other, and most groups move between them all night. See our Benidorm nightlife guide for the wider picture.

The Square, the Strip and the Old Town compared

The Square is about British bars and late venues, the Strip is about show bars, and the Old Town is about Spanish bars and pintxos. Sources do not all draw the lines the same way: Holiday Extras describes the Strip as running along Levante beach, while most guides, including Last Night of Freedom and Go Hen, mean Calle Gerona.

Bars on and around the Square

Three names come up in almost every description of the Square, with a few more on the streets that lead into it.

    Café Benidorm

Café Benidorm is one of the Square's late venues. Engel & Völkers lists its hours as 20:00 to 08:00, which is late enough that it would need a club-type licence; check the sign at the door, as hours change through the year.

    Sinatra's

Sinatra's on Calle Lepanto is known for two-for-one deals on local beer and spirits, according to Holiday Extras. It also hosts Benisoul, a Northern Soul, Motown, reggae and ska weekender, which returns from Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 February 2027, open 13:00 to 03:00 for ages 16 and over.

    Beachcombers

Beachcombers is the third bar Holiday Extras names on the Square. We do not yet have a venue page for it.

    Chaplins

Chaplins at Avenida de Mallorca 4 is a cabaret bar that guides list as open from 20:30 to 05:00. It runs adults-only late shows, so it suits stag and hen groups more than families. See our adult shows guide for the rest.

    Millers Bar

Millers Bar on Calle Lepanto, between Sinatra's and the Hotel Arcos Gold, is the base for the FK IT stag parties run by Frank the Stag Man, so it is packed with groups at weekends.

The Square Disco and the name clash

There is also a venue called The Square, listed on this site as The Square Disco. If someone in your group says “meet at the Square”, check whether they mean the area around Avenida de Mallorca or the club.

Last Night of Freedom lists a venue called The Square on Avenida de Mallorca as a strip club with free entry. A strip club is for adults only, so check before taking a mixed group.

    When the Square is busiest

The Square fills up late, after the early acts on the Strip finish, and stays busy until the late venues close. Ordinary bars must close by 01:30 and pubs by 03:30 under the 2026 Valencian hours; anything later runs on a disco or sala de fiesta licence. Our guide to what time bars close in Benidorm has the full table.

The biggest day of the year is the Benidorm Fancy Dress Party, held on the Thursday after the November fiestas and expected on Thursday 12 November 2026. In 2025 the police closed the zone between Mallorca, Gerona and Lepanto from about midday, extending the closures as crowds grew.

After the Square, the big clubs such as Penelope are out on the N-332 and get busy around 04:00, according to Barceló's guide.

    Prices on the Square

The Square is one of the cheaper places to drink in Benidorm. Euro Weekly News puts a pint in British-style pubs at €3–4 in 2026, with happy-hour pints from €1 to €2.50 in budget bars. Sinatra's two-for-one offer is the best-known deal.

Most bars here are free to enter. For clubs, Last Night of Freedom puts typical entry at €10–15 including a drink, and a 2026 listing for Penelope shows €15–25. Our cheapest pint guide tracks the bargains.

    Staying safe around the Square

Keep to busy, well-known streets, watch for pickpockets in crowds, and keep drinks inside bars or at their terrace tables; drinking in the street or on the beach is not allowed. Approaching passers-by to pull them into a venue is banned in Benidorm, so be wary of anyone working the pavement for a bar.

The SATE office for foreign tourists, run by the Policía Nacional with interpreters, is on Calle Gerona at the junction with Avenida del Derramador, in the same district. Call 112 in an emergency. Our Benidorm safety guide and stag do rules have the details, and Benidorm taxis covers getting home.
