Who are Radio Taxi Benidorm?
Founded in 1984, Radio Taxi Benidorm is the association representing roughly 96% of licensed taxi drivers in the town — over 220 professional members. Every vehicle is fully licensed, metered and insured, and drivers hold the regional taxi qualification required to carry passengers in Alicante province.
The fleet is one of the most modern in Spain, with an average vehicle age of around three years. Close to half of the cars are eco-friendly hybrid or LPG models, and the whole fleet is dispatched via 4G with live GPS tracking. More than 200 direct "call-a-taxi" buttons are installed in hotels and businesses across Benidorm for the fastest possible pickup.

How Benidorm taxi fares are calculated
- Meters charge by distance, but continue to tick while waiting at lights, in traffic or for passengers to come out.
- Night tariff, Sundays and public holidays are more expensive than weekday daytime fares.
- Supplements may apply for the airport, bus station and Renfe — these must be posted visibly inside the taxi.
- Intercity trips (e.g. Calpe, Altea, Alicante) run on a fixed regional tariff that includes the driver's return.
- Current tariffs and supplements are legally required to be displayed on the rear window or behind the front seats.
Where to find a taxi in Benidorm
Taxi ranks are dotted throughout the town — you'll find them near the main hotels along Levante and Poniente, the bus station, the Old Town square and outside popular nightlife strips. A green rooftop light means the taxi is free to hail from the street.
For a guaranteed pickup — especially late at night, on fiesta days or when heading to the airport — book in advance by phone or via Pidetaxi. If a driver arrives before you're ready, be aware that waiting time is chargeable on the meter.
Your rights as a passenger
- Only travel in legally licensed taxis (white cars with a visible taxi licence and meter).
- The taximeter must be visible to passengers throughout the journey.
- You can request an official receipt showing the taxi licence number — essential if you need to dispute a fare.
- Every driver carries official complaint forms (hojas de reclamaciones) on request.
- Before leaving, note the licence number, date, time and route if anything felt wrong.
- Seat belts are mandatory for all passengers — front and back — and fines apply if you're stopped without one.
