About Coldplay
British band Coldplay formed at University College London and developed from piano-led alternative rock into arena-scale pop.
‘Yellow’, ‘Clocks’, ‘Fix You’, ‘Viva la Vida’ and ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ trace that shift across their catalogue.
The group's debut Parachutes put ‘Yellow’ alongside intimate, understated songs; A Rush of Blood to the Head brought the piano-and-guitar drama of ‘Clocks’ and ‘The Scientist’. Later albums widened the palette with orchestral textures and electronic production. Chris Martin's piano playing and audience singalongs are recurring threads across those different eras.
