How much spending money do you need for Benidorm?

Updated 15/10/2026 by the onbenidorm team · Prices checked October 2026

Most visitors spend roughly €35 to €150 per person per day in Benidorm, excluding flights and hotel. With our calculator's default week (five drinks, three meals out a day, buses, four beach days and one theme park), two people sharing a taxi spend about €650 each, or €81 a day. Happy hours, free shows and a menú del día bring it down sharply.

    What the calculator includes

The calculator covers spending money only: drinks, food, local transport, airport transfers, sunbeds, theme parks and shows. Flights, hotel, travel insurance and shopping are not included. It counts one more day than nights, because you eat and drink on arrival and departure days.

Every price comes from our Benidorm prices 2026 index, which is dated and sourced. Where that index gives a range, the calculator uses a typical mid-point rather than the cheapest bargain.

    Sample budgets per person

These daily figures from our prices guide show the spread. They are estimates, and the number of rounds you buy matters more than anything else.

    Budget: about €33 a day

A full English at about €5.50, a menú del día at €12, four pints at €3, two bus rides and an evening of free bar entertainment. Over a week that is roughly €265 each, achievable if you stick to happy hours and Spanish lunches.

    Mid-range: about €80 a day

Breakfast, a sunbed and parasol, a menú del día, a tapas dinner, five pints and a cocktail. This is close to the calculator's default settings and to how most first-time visitors spend.

Comfortable: about €135–€150 on a big day

Breakfast, a sunbed, a theme park ticket bought online, a Benidorm Palace dinner show and two cocktails. Few people spend this every day; mix two or three big days with cheaper ones.

How to make your money go further

Benidorm is cheap by northern European standards, and a few habits cut costs by a third or more.

    • Drink in happy hours, when pints fall to €1–€2.50; our cheapest pint in Benidorm page tracks where.
    • Most bar shows are free entry: in the fortnight from 15 October 2026 all 1,381 shows in our listings were free. See free entertainment tonight.
    • Eat your main meal at lunchtime, when a three-course menú del día with a drink costs €12–€18 in Spanish restaurants.
    • Order a caña (small beer) in Spanish bars for €1.80–€2.50.
    • Buy theme-park tickets online, or use afternoon tickets; our theme parks guide compares fares.
    • The Avanza bus pass costs €12 for 24 hours, €24 for 72 hours or €48 for 7 days; the 72-hour pass pays off after 15 rides.
    • Spend free days on the beaches, viewpoints and walks in our free things to do in Benidorm guide.

Cards, cash and cash machine fees

Cards are accepted in most bars, restaurants and supermarkets, but carry some cash for beach kiosks, small bars and tips. The single most useful rule: when a card machine or ATM offers to charge you in pounds or your home currency, decline and pay in euros. Consumer group BEUC found that this "dynamic currency conversion" can add 5–6% to a payment.

Many Spanish cash machines charge foreign cards a fixed fee per withdrawal, and travellers have reported fees of up to about €7 at major banks. The machine must show the fee before you confirm, so cancel and try another bank if it is high, and take out larger sums less often. A card with no foreign-transaction fees saves the most.

    Tipping in Benidorm

Tipping in Spain is appreciated but optional. Leave 5–10% at a sit-down restaurant if service was good, round up to the nearest euro in bars and taxis, and check the bill for "servicio incluido", which means service is already included.

Tips are best left in cash, because tips added to a card payment may not reach the staff member. In British bars with free entertainment, buying a drink is the way to support the venue and its acts.

    Costs the calculator leaves out

Plan separately for nightclub entry (about €12–€25 at events), boat trips to Benidorm Island, day trips, souvenirs and travel insurance. There is no tourist tax in Benidorm in 2026.

Night taxis cost more: the special tariff applies from 22:00 to 06:00 on weekdays, from 15:00 on Saturdays and all day on Sundays and holidays. See Benidorm taxis for fares, and the airport bus guide if you want to cut the transfer cost to about €9 each way.

How much spending money do you need for Benidorm? — FAQs

How much spending money do I need for a week in Benidorm?

At our 2026 prices, a seven-day budget-to-mid-range trip costs about €230 to €560 per person for drinks, food, buses and the odd sunbed. Add a theme park, sunbeds and a shared airport taxi and a typical week comes to about €650 each. Flights and hotel are extra. Use the calculator to match your own plans.

Is €50 a day enough in Benidorm?

Yes for most people who are careful. A full English, a menú del día lunch, a few happy-hour pints, two bus rides and a free evening show come to about €33. €50 leaves room for a sunbed or an extra round, but not for theme parks or Benidorm Palace.

Should I pay in euros or pounds in Benidorm?

Always choose euros. When a card machine or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency, it applies its own exchange rate, which consumer group BEUC found can add 5–6% to the cost. Paying in euros lets your own card provider do the conversion.

Do Spanish cash machines charge fees?

Many do for foreign cards, and travellers have reported fixed fees of up to about €7 a withdrawal at large banks. The fee must be shown on screen before you confirm, so cancel if it is high and try another machine. Fewer, larger withdrawals keep total fees down.

    Do you tip in Benidorm?

It is optional. Leave 5–10% at sit-down restaurants for good service, round up in bars and taxis, and check whether the bill says servicio incluido. Cash tips are more likely to reach the person who served you.

Is Benidorm cheaper than other Spanish resorts?

It is known for low prices: in 2026 a pint in a British bar is usually €3–€4, a full English €4.50–€6 and a bus ride €1.60, and most entertainment is free. There is also no tourist tax in the Valencian region in 2026.
